Re: Takara MP-41 Masterpiece Dinobot Listing And Possible Price
Let's look at how we can justify/rationalize this price.
Dinobot is not an easy toy to paint/engineer to be both show accurate in both modes. He's a Kibble bomb waiting to go off. The designers really have to be super creative to hide back-kibble and not mess up the quality/weight.
If you're going for proper scaling to the show. He's actually taller and bigger than Optimus Primal. So yeah, he ain't slim.
This is almost bordering into Hot Toys (1/6 scale) collectors toys territory, with all the accessories for faces and hands, just like the other Beast Wars Masterpieces.

Re: Takara MP-41 Masterpiece Dinobot Listing And Possible Price
Can't be the engineering, we've gotten plenty of super complex deluxes during the ROTF era. Has to be something else.

I'm hoping the rumor is true that the price we've seen is for a case of four.

Re: Takara MP-41 Masterpiece Dinobot Listing And Possible Price
I'm in. I don't love the price, but I know I'm getting more toy. Bigger + better = pricier.
I get that it's outside the budget for some folks, and I sympathize, but if you're considering KOs instead, then you're part of the problem. At the end of the day, this is a luxury hobby. You wouldn't buy a KO luxury car, you'd buy something within your means instead like a Civic, so do the same here. Universe Dinobot is still a great toy and a worthy representation of the character for those unwilling or unable to foot the cost of this mp.

Re: Takara MP-41 Masterpiece Dinobot Listing And Possible Price
OK let's do some math and logics.
MP-32 Convoy/Primal Japanese MSRP: ¥12,000
MP-34 Cheetor Japanese MSRP: ¥7,000
MP-38 Convoy/Primal Commander Japanese MSRP: ¥12,000
Now consider this: If MP-41 is bigger than MP-32 and has more features, and if the rumoured ¥28,000 is a rumoured wholesale case price, then it actually make a bit more sense that the MSRP could well be ¥28,000 / 2 = ¥14,000.
It makes no sense that MSRP for MP-41 could be more expensive than MP-36 (¥23,0000) or even LG43 Trypticon (¥27,0000).

When your truck needs a slew of parts, do you buy all OEM at inflated cost? Or, do you look at alternative options?
I used to think that the consumers contributed to the problem/solution in this hobby. But I don't think that anymore. I've thought about this a lot and came to the conclusion that the world is a huge place. There's gaps in every market. There's too many people and too many demographics to say any consumer is a problem. I realized this when I also realized that people don't change their habits, companies know it and use it to their advantage.
Neither K.O. or official is going anywhere.
It's already been proven that Maketoys sold their own stuff as a K.O. and I'm suspecting that Takara does it too.

Is there any sources on this? That would be an interesting read, and deals if the product is the same.

Maketoy is KO. So they KO their own KO?

I'd bet that top 3rd-party companies probably create offshoot companies such that they capture different segments of the market at different price points. It only makes sense. I'd also bet my left one that the majority of these 3p companies are all owned by the same person (or few people).
