Clearcoat/Sealant

What's a good clearcoat or sealant to use to help protect paint on customs??

Re: Clearcoat/Sealant

If I may follow up on clearcoat,
How cheap is it? Can the cheap brands (or dollar store version) work for thickening plastic joints that were loose?

i find automotive clear works the best(just dont pound it on.)but if you dont have easy access to it,the second best (imo) would be "krylon fusion" clearcoat.it comes in gloss,semi-gloss and matte and it's usually about 7-8 bucks a can.(each can can do about 3-4 figures depending on the size of the bot and how many coats you use

my friend...."stay away" from those loonie store clears.more than half the time, they end up at a loonie store because they're already past their shelf life.it usually ends up instead of it being "clear",the spray comes out with a yellowy tint to it.that and because it's sat on the shelves so long, once it cures it will either crack or crumble right off of the fig you just sprayed it on.(i learned that the hard way cause i too tried "cheaping out"lesson learned.)if it's just to stiffen balljoints, try some of your wifey's clear nail polish, just make sure it dries all the way through before you reassemble

Re: Clearcoat/Sealant

I'll just have to stop by Crappy Tire or Homo Depot and see what I can find. Just want this "project" to be nice and protected.

Re: Clearcoat/Sealant

DONT buy the Krylon stuff from Walmart.Buy it from somewhere else.I purchased a can and it yellowed BAD.

Just my two cents.Nothing worse than ruining something while trying to protect it.

Re: Clearcoat/Sealant

I use the Future Floor Polish to seal my stuff. I've read a few different threads about it and all seem to give it a high rating. I think I 1st heard about it over on TFW2005.

Re: Clearcoat/Sealant

Apparently the future stuff works great. You can control the gloss it leaves by how much you dilute it. Great writeup on radicons TFW2005
