From what's been reported, the quality of these guys is close to, if not equal to, that of mainline Hasbro. The designs are solid, if not the most sophisticated (I get a 2006 Classics vibe from them). The colours are...interesting, but that can be fixed with some paint and time, and the price is really good.

I'm really excited to get my set and fill a gap in my collection that Hasbro seems unable, or unwilling to.

From what I read, this set is not as good as mainline Hasbro. Without modifiation, it can hardly stand by itself.
But the potential is there, anyone from our board with minium DIY skills can fix it and become a solid combiner.
That's why I ordered one with the star rescue bots.

MakeToys does not make garbage. This set is a TFC design not MakeToys.

The set would be more appealing in G1 Dinobots colors... As it is, it's an easy pass. It looks like a KO from the 80s.

Re: Maketoys star dino combiner

Funny how when TFC produces a combiner it sells for around $500. This set is a complete TFC design and I hear the plastic quality is good and not thin and only sells for $55.

Anyone see an issue here?

I heard it is because of the mass production in China for the show. TFC only produces number of quantities with quality control i would think. But if a figures goes into mass production with limited quality control then cost is very low for production.

I thought they just designed it but didn't produce it? Plus, the designs look pretty crude compared to modern Transformers.

Hey a combiner for less than $100 shipped is an amazing deal. I'm looking forward to playing around with him.

This.
$126 USD shipped from A3U for both sets. A whole combiner for less than the price of a single 3P bot. As a combiner collector, I couldn't pass them up.

Heh. Given the QC issues that crop up with Hasbro's stuff these days, it don't think it would take a lot to match them.

Totally agree, though, there is a ton of potential here - we're all gonna have a lot of fun with these!
