BBTS
I am looking at some figures on BBTS, and there's a lot of them that I'm interested in. What is BBTS policy for Canadian shoppers? will I get hit with customs and duty tax fees?
Thanks

Re: BBTS
You'll probably get hit by customs if your order is over $100. At least that's my experience with BBTS so far.

Re: BBTS
Ship by United States Postal Service (USPO). Fees get charged by Canada Post on delivery.
Under $50 CANADIAN (don't forget to convert it) for the items (before shipping) and you have a good chance of getting charged no fees.
$50-$100 CANADIAN item(s) and it's a dice roll as to whether you get hit with fees.
Over $100 Cdn item(s) and you'll almost certainly get hit.
Here's the Canada Post fees in Ontario:
13% of item value in cdn dollars for the hst
+ $10 cdn processing fee
Examples:
$30 usd figure, plus $13 usd for USPO shipping
- you pay BBTS $43 usd
- Canada Post delivers it, likely no additional charges
$120 usd figure, plus $18 usd for USPO shipping
- you pay BBTS the $138 usd
- Canada Post delivers it asking for an extra $30.41 cdn
(You can pay cash or credit card to the postal carrier, or they can take it to the post office and you pay/pickup there)
Where did that $30.41 come from?
* item cost converted to cdn $ = $157 cdn (note they don't care what you paid fo shipping over that)
* 13% of $157 cdn = $20.41 cdn
* add the $10 cdn fee
= $30.41 cdn

Re: BBTS
I used them for years when I was heavily collecting. Found them great, and easy to deal with. I absolutely loved their system for making pre-orders.
I doubt I would use them much now, because of the poor exchange rates.

Re: BBTS
I've spent thousands at them. I use to just use them.
I got hit every single time by customs and it's not true about under $50 you won't get hit. I got hit every single time and sometimes I swear they just pulled a number out of their asses.
I had an order that was $60 and I got hit with $40 in customs etc. I wish I was joking....
They have great service and their pre order system is the best there ishould. And they get awesome shit I can't find anywhere else but I had to stop shopping guide there because of the extra fees.

Re: BBTS
FedEx or UPS will hit you every time, with fees I can't begin to figure out.
Canada Post has a set, fixed fee of $10 + the hst on the item (in Ontario).
The "under $50" thing may depend heavily on your local Posties, I imagine.

Re: BBTS
I use both BBTS and TFSource for the bulk of my purchases these days; though BBTS sees more uses since I buy more recent figures, though if I want something more vintage, TFSource is a good place to look. And I'll agree BBTS has a great pre-order set-up. TFSource's isn't as good, I don't think.
I can't say as I've personally been hit with customs fees from either place in quite some time actually. I may just be unusually lucky in that regard, but I bought the entire first wave of CW a year or two back from TFSource, about ten figures from each size class all told, easily around $175 or so after exchange rates and shipping, but didn't get hit with any customs fees. No fees on CW Devastator either. But again, I may just be very lucky in that regard. I've gotten hit by them in the past. But not in awhile.

Re: BBTS
If you're using the post it's just luck, the higher value the higher the risk, little else.
If you're using fedex or other couriers they make additional money charging you fees, so they will always charge you fees.

Re: BBTS
Let's say if you buy Masterpiece Optimus Prime with Trailer & Vector Sigma Gift Set (Reissue) 159$, then you will hit with custom fees. Then is there a site besides the boards for Canadian shoppers? I only know A3U, Toytrove. How about Asian markets like HLJ, Nippon-Yasan, x2otoys etc.?
