That attitude is the hard core 3P collector mindset in a nut shell.

I am not surprised at all seeing certain people in this thread questioning others solely because they don't believe, without even evidence. What a joke.

well, to be honest,

It's just such a self-defeating attitude... it's feeding the high prices, making many that would be collectors renounce the hobby.

I'd say more but I already know what the very people that do this will say....hint, they don't get it.

Frankly I don't know why on a collector's site people Mention how much they played for a figure at all..

Some will state it because they are simply being super happy about finding something at a good/amazing price.

Some will state it because there's a deal going on and wants to share for others to enjoy it too.

Some will state that they paid more than other can afford as a show of how well off they are, which turns their collecting not about what they are collector but as a status symbol... like guns, a loud muffler car, etc... you get the drift.

For me, I KNOW that I over-payed a few things, but got some decent deals, some that were amazing finds... I find that I never envy anyone else's collection as it's not the same that I have at all, each figure I have, I wanted it, and most have a story to it or means something to me. The few that I wish I had, I figure that one day I might get it, but that it's also something I do for fun and to enjoy. Price wise, I will discuss for particular reasons, but never will I consider myself a "better" collector for having something expensive... for me, that's the usual analogy I tend to use:

Anyone with money can buy an expensive camera, but it doesn't make them a photographer.

So collecting is about the passion behind it, and the moment I see someone rant about how expensive something he has is, and that being the main point and why it's so superior because of how expensive it was, I don't regard that people as a collector.

I still look at it as per, it's a piece of plastic... melt it and your 500$ status emblem turns into a lump of plastic that's not even worth 5 cents.

I kinda miss the old days that it was the hunt, and joy of finding that odd piece in a flea market or such, for a pittance. It still happens once in a blue moon, but the competition is so rough now.
