Apparently I read somewhere else on this site that a member removed Jetfire's chrome with de-greaser and it worked well so that might be an option as well.

I used Power Green degreaser, took about 10 hours to remove the chrome. Just had to rince and dry once it was done, nothing else to do, you just let the parts soak.

Hey Pascal - Might I ask where you picked up Power Green degreaser?? And all you did was let it soak in it for 10 hours ?? Did you have to repaint it afterwards ??

IGA!

Yup, soak, rince and dry. No paint needed, it's a nice red plastic under that chrome.

I don't know what everyone's problem is. I like the chrome on him. It seems like yesterday everyone was clamouring for chrome. Proclaiming the superiority of Takara Henkei's and SDCC Metroplex's over their domestic retail counterparts.

I think it's the ugliness of the colour red chrome chosen, and the over abundance of it that's the issue.

Re: Removing Chrome from Jetfire Parts - video tutorial

I used degreaser as well to get all the chrome off. Took me 2 days though as it was some cheap brand from Target. Jetfire looks waaaaaaaay better now. The plastic under is a nice shiny red. I love chrome on certain transformers, I just think that this chrome doesn't suit Jetfire.

I would have preferred chrome on other parts, like what they did with the boosters on the Henkei version.
