Fall of Cybertron - Optimus Prime, Jazz and Shockwave

Hey everyone. Thanks for tuning in. First time reviewing something, so please be kind lol. Pictures to come soon (Phone Recharging)

This a review of Fall of Cybertron figures - Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Shockwave.

I just got my set from Robotkingdom Thursday July 5th and it was shipped on the 3rd.

Lets get ready to RUMBLEEEEE!!!!

First up, Optimus Prime

Prime is acutally much better in person (A lot of figures tend to do that eh?) I was really surpirsed. He is a nice solid figure.

Alt mode:

In all honesty, not much to say really. Its small, really small. Smaller than PRID Bumblebee. However, I personally like the way it looks. It is much more blocky than WFC Prime. The gap in the windows don't bother me, the vehicle looks pretty powerful, like it can plow through decepticons like a snowplow plows snows.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_142339.jpg

Robot mode:

Robot mode is not bad, again much better in person than some of the photos make him out to be. Better than alt mode.

However, I don't know what it is, but he kinda looks fat because of his chest. He has hollow forearms and back of the legs, due to transformation, that, when transforming him, the upper arms collaspe into forearm and the thighs collaspe into the legs. But that also add to the articulation. The legs look stubby but are actually nicely proportioned and have great range of motion.

The head. The head sculpt is very nice. Hint of a lot of primes head in it. One down side is that there is no light piping. It has a great of movement range, better than all my prime figure I have. He can look 90 degrees up 360 degree rotation, and you can get a pretty bad ass pose with him looking down like he is pissed. The colours of the head make the eyes pop out.

Each shoulder comes with a really nice looking autobot symbol.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_142941.jpg
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_143305.jpg

Transformation:

Really nothing special, its simple. I won't give the details on him, but has an atuomorphe feature thats pretty neat.

Articulation: = High

Head - All around movement. Ball-joint.
Arms - Ball-joint Shoulder, swivel biceps, hinged elbow, and swivel wrist.
Torso - no waist but instead the ball-joint is in torso
Legs - Ball-joint hips, swivel thighs, hinged kness, hinged (due to transformeration) ankles and ball-joint feet

Pros:
  • Great range of motion
  • Looks overall really good
  • Fun to fiddle with
Cons
  • Size, he suffers from Hasbro's new sizes on deluxes
  • Looks fat
  • Some hollow spots, forearms and back of legs
Over all, not a bad figure. I would give he a 6/10 (for a collector) meaning if you want him, get him. but he won't be a missed figure if you don't. For me he is actually an 8, the more I play with him, the more I dig him.

Re: Fall of Cybertron - Optimus Prime, Jazz and Shockwave

Next up, Jazz.

Atl mode:

Jazz's atl mode is sleek. Its pretty cool. Some things you'll notice is that he has a nice red autobot symbol. Has a spoiler on the back, and six, either exhaust ports or engine boosters on the top of the car. Colours are, as you can see, white, blue, grey, black and red.

However, again like prime, he is small. Still smaller than PRID Bumblebee and RTS Windcharger is just a few milimetres smaller.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_143511.jpg
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_142830.jpg

Robot mode:

First thing you may notice is the head. Its sunken into his body. I don't like it at all.

Proportions are terribly on the guy. From a built looking upper body to very skinny legs

The head sclupt however is very nice. Blue, silver and black on the visor. The face itself is well detailed.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_142408.jpg
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_142421.jpg

Transformations:

Jazz'stransformation is much more involved than prime's. However, once transformed, another set of wheels show up as the ankles. So he has total count of si wheels, but I feel as the transformation requires you flip the arm panel which cover the front wheel, the ankle wheels are bad. But do lack the red paints the other four have. Jazz also features an automorphe gimmick for the head.

Articulation = pretty High

Head - Ball-joint, rotates 360 but can't look up or down that well
Shoulders - ball-joint and hinged
Biceps - swivel
Elbows - hinged with rivits (ratchet like)
Wrists- Ball-joint
Hips - Ball-joint
Things - Swivel
Knees - hinged with rivits (ratchet like)
Ankles - hinged
NO WAIST OR TORSO articulation

Pros
  • Very nice sclupted head and very detailed
  • Love the paint job
  • Love the atl mode
Cons
  • Proportions in robot mode
  • Head location
Overall nice looking figure. 7/10. Get him if you can, but you can wait for retail.

Re: Fall of Cybertron - Optimus Prime, Jazz and Shockwave

Last but most certianly not least SHOCKWAVE!

Umm, wow?

This figure is just awesome.

Alt mode:

Incredible, I love everything about it. Colours, size, details.

Colours are a very cool looking purple mixed with grey, black, and pink. The size in alt mode is actually bigger than most deluxes of the generations line. Bigger than Drift and Blurr. The details are great, right from the big cannon to the pink window like front right to the end at the thrusters.

Shockave's alt mode is the most cybertronian looking for the three figures from the first wave.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_143453.jpg
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_143502.jpg

Robot mode:

However, while I love the alt mode, robot mode suffer only in size. That is Shockwave's only drawback. but everything else remain true.

Details are still pretty nice looking. He has a very cool Decepticon symbol on his troso. The nice touch Hasbro incorperated into this figure, is the ability to have his cannon look to be a part of his arm. I know the G1ers out there will like that.

Colours are pretty much the same as in alt mode.

Head sclupt is very G1 looking with amazing lightpiping.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_151044.jpg
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...706_151018.jpg

Transformation:

Pretty simple, didn't use the instructions while on Prime and Jazz had to for certian areas. Has a vry cool automorph gimmick where, once finish flipping the pink window bit around to become the chest, Shockwave head shoots up from a spring. The cannon is nicely incorperated into the vehicle mode.

Articulation: = Pretty High (Less than Jazz)

Head - swivel
Shoulders - swivel at the immediate, and hinged
Elbows - a hinge at the upper part and a ball-joint at the lower
Wrist - hinged, but due to transformation
Hips - ball-joint
Knees - swivel at upper and hinged forthe knee movement
Ankles - hinged, again due to transformation

Pros
  • Just awesome Peroid.
  • Fantastic Head sclupt
  • Nicely incorperated cannon into vehicle
  • Nicely incorpertaed arm cannon
  • Great looking Decepticon symbol
Cons
  • Size
  • Can the fact that he is not out yet be a con?
Overall, great figure. Definitly the best out of the three by far. 10/10 no, 20/10 lol. Get him, right now. No I mean it, now. Stop reading, and order him! NOW! Lol. You still reading aren't you?

Well everyone for those who didn't take my advice and get Shockwave right and are still reading, thank you for well, reading my reviews!

Re: Fall of Cybertron - Optimus Prime, Jazz and Shockwave

I think that the smaller they make the figures the more money Hasbro will save per figure, and thus make more molds with the extra money.
