Last year was my first TFcon, I bought:
-G1 Blitzwing $40
-Henkai Astrotrain $50 (Bargined from $60)
-classics Octane MISB, Acidstorm MISB, and starscream Opened = around $60(from Bruticus82)
-Generations Thrust $20

Total of $170, just to give you an idea of first taste going to a convintion to the first time.

If you are planning on buying not to many figures (-10 figures), $200 (that includes $50 of food/snacks) is a perfect amount, unless you are looking for something expensive.

Edit: also I spend all that only on 1 day worth of stuff and I had my brother dragged along and feed
