I've been playing with spice racks from London Drugs myself; they're three tiered, so they work well in terms of getting multiple figures displayed while allowing guys to stand in front of the shelf without blocking the first tier.)
They don't take up a whole Detolf either, so if you have a shelf that's mainly Deluxes you can stick a Voyager or two off to one side as well.

I was in dollarama yesterday, and I don't know if I was looking at the right photo cubes, but the ones I was looking at seemed small. I couldn't imagine fitting Rodimus Prime's Battlestation on them...

They're clear, BUT they have a textured bottom to the shelves. Which doesn't make much of a difference either way for larger figures like Transformers.
