So after a couple of frustrating (and failed) attempts to make the smaller MegaBlok Need For Speed cars transform, I had a bit of eureka moment and thought "Combiner!"
These vehicles are panelized nicely so I figured I could do the "Michael Bay" thing and put parts of vehicles where ever I felt
looked cool as opposed to deal with the hassle of actually making them transform. That's for the Takara engineers to figure out, right?
What I ended up with is Menasor-ish, though I'm not going to call him that because the centre bot isn't a truck, he's an F1 car. Let's call him "Caster" for now.
Okay, let's start with the five kits that I worked with...MegaBlocks NFS models and the "Carbon" F1 car:
At first, I used an entirely Megablok headscuplt:
I'm using those nice 'clicky' Lego joints for articulation. He's VERY stable and very posable, a nice bonus for avoiding any transformation.
You can really sculpt with these parts...a real blast. But he just wasn't feeling like a Transformer to me, so I did a custom face scuplt instead:

So there you go. Only took me a couiple hours to build, and was very fun in the process.
I have some better hands on the way, but for now this was worth some building time on a cold January afternoon.
