Cybertron.ca Update: New Kitbashing Tutorial

Thanks to racerguy76, we have a new tutorial in our art section. Has there ever been a time where you looked at a Transformer and thought, Hmm... How can I remove the factory paint? And then thought, what is the best way I can make my creation one solid color like those prototypes? racerguy76 shows you how to do both!. Check out "racerguy76's Paint Stripping and Priming Tutorial".

Give it a read and tell us what you think in this news thread, or leave racerguy76 a comment on his Profile Wall.

If you have an art tutorial you would like to submit, PM it to me, and it will be added to our Tutorials Thread. If you have any other questions about this tutorial, ask in this news thread, or send a PM to racerguy76 or myself.

Is there a way to remove a tiny bit of paint? I just got Universe Dinobot and he has a little drop of purple paint on his helmet just below his eye. So it kind of looks like he's crying. It doesn't help that his mouth is molded in a frown. Is there a way to remove this paint mis-app without ruining the color around or underneath it?

for that i wouldn't use this technique.. I don't have him yet, but is the helmet painted too, or just the face?

I think the helmet is just the color of plastic. No paint.

Nice tutorial! This is basically what I did to my Universe Galvatron's left forearm to get rid of the ugly grey and restore it to the purple underneath. I need to go back and do some touch ups though.

you could take a bit of the solution and just rub it with a cloth, or a very little bit of nail polish remover on a cloth... OR take an exacto and just lightly scrape it.

When I have the same problems like you do with mis-applied paint. I get a few wooden tooth picks and dip them in Isopropyl Alcohol 99% (Shoppers drug mart or Wal-Mart shelves in the pharmacy area) and start to rub the area and in a few minutes the paint is gone. Then to clean up the lifted paint and wood bits leftover, I use a toothbrush dipped in the Iso Alcohol and brush the area lightly which cleans up everything. After that everything is like it should have been from the factory. I hope this helps you out.

Re: Cybertron.ca Update: New Kitbashing Tutorial

great tutorial! I have a question though
any chance of what will take off tampos? I really want to get rid of the autobot symbols on Activators Bumblee and Cliffjumper, and rubbing alcohol doesn't seem to work, at least with a cotton swab. Any ideas?

use either a stronger iso solution or put a drop of the iso you have now right on the symbols and let it sit longer.if you can wait for about 10 min or so,when you come back to it,the tampo's should pretty much come off as you wipe off the iso.(you may have to reapply iso within those 10 min as iso evaporates so fast.)

COOL TUTORIAL RACERGUY!!!!!!!!
