Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
My guess would be the extra plastic is considerably more expensive than a small addition of tape.

To say nothing of the glue involved in adhering it, from both a materials, environmental sustainability, and ease of opening perspective.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
Wait, what are we talking about here? They Switched back to gluing the bubbles to the cards since ROTF. Can't remember if it was the Nest figures or before that. Most annoying thing I find is that there's 2 little flaps on either side that you have to cut the tape on, then still have to peel the whole bubble from the card. Had a situation one time where I gave myself a bit of a nasty cut while sliding my finger along the bottom seam of a deluxe.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
I usually have to knife the hell outta mine to get into them, so I think the tape is doing it's job fairly well. Course, since I'm an 'opener', I don't give it too much notice. My only real response to the recent packaging is that I love the stiff string they use now over those plastic twist ties. Those friggin' things were crafted by Satan. That and I enjoy the simpler art direction they went with over the mess it use to look like when they'd cram three other products' cross-sells on the back of the card, a full paragraph bio and whatever else they could.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
It's an odd concept that originated in Japan, but the way they did it was more effective (you can remove the whole bubble cleanly, ours is still glued in some regions)

not likely, Styrofoam is considered environmental unfriendly and more hazardous to children.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
It dosen't really matter to me all that much since half of the time a carded deluxe package of mine looks as if Nocturn had opened it, and the other half I tend to open cleanly. That all depends on if I have a knife within viewing distance or not. All of my North American packaging gets recycled anyway.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
I would prefer that they used to do it in japan,.. bubble has three sides slotted and a staple holds it all together, pull the staple slide the card up and out of the bubble... nice for display keeps dust off toy and best is you can take the toy out to transform and place back any time,.. no cutting the bubble no tape nice and easy saves the artwork and card, now if parents watched there kids,... pieces wouldn't end up on the store floor or in pocket
