Which comics would make good live action TV shows?
With the epic failure of Wonder Woman, could a comic series/character carry a live action tv show? Which ones would would you choose were it up to you? Who would you have star in it? An established name, or a new-comer?
I think in this age where series like Supernatural do very well I think that Hellblazer could do well. Now I know many will bring up the Constantine movie, and I know that lots of people didn't like it, but I had never read the comics before the seeing the movie so I didn't mind it.
That said, now having read Hellblazer, I'd like the series to follow the comics a little more faithfully. I can see either David Tennant (Dr. Who) or preferably Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) starring as John Constantine.
Along the same vein, I also think that Ghost Rider could work as well. I'd use the Danny Ketch version of GH to differentiate him from the movie Johnny Blaze GH. I can't think of anyone who I'd cast as Danny off the top of my head though, but I'd probably choose an unknown. Although now that I think of it, I could see Tom Welling as Danny.
Heroes For Hire! Luke Cage and Ironfist kicking ass, in a tongue-in-cheek homage to the old black-sploitation and chop-sockey action flicks.
Maybe The Spectre. It would be a cool noir crime drama using the original Jim Corrigan Spectre. I'd have Gary Cole star as Corrigan/Spectre, though the Spectre himself would probably have to be CG.
What would you do?

The Flash, I liked the old one in the 90s, but with today's CGI, and better writers, it might have a chance. Since he doesn't have to fly, lasers coming out of eyes, super strength, gimmicky weapons, etc it should be easier to pull off for TV.
No star, someone fresh for every character. Stars for guest stars are fine.

Really? There aren't any other comic book nerds here that think their favorite would make a good show and why?

Y: The Last Man could make a pretty interesting show, but it would probably be hell for casting and censorship.

Well, we've got Captain America coming out soon. Why not a Captain Canada movie?!

I was going to make a Due South joke, until I realized Benton Fraser is considered a superhero on that site and has his own section. Welp...
DMZ is another great comic that could do well as a show, though again, could be difficult to produce. Northlanders might be a bit easier though, but could be stymied by its lack of a single storyline.

Y would work on HBO.
This is how I feel about comic books turned into tv shows: It's fine if they don't involve superhero costumes. Every tv show based off a comic book has sucked. They just don't have the budget to pull things off. You need a big budget to make a person in tights look good and for CGI. Otherwise, it looks goofy. the problem with TV shows, is that even if it starts out with the budget, budgets inevitably get slashed, and the show resorts to off camera shots or shitty CGI. The outfits on Smallville were terrible. Shows like Heroes were brutalized by crappy budgets. It just doesn't work that great. I prefer movies. But something like Y? That would be cool.

Aren't they making a 100 Bullets show in the next year or two? That could be good.
