Renderform TF Prime Galvatron Kit FINALLY DONE!!!

Hey guys,

This was a project I wanted to complete ages ago because the kit is so cool but with all my other projects on the go I just didn't get the chance....but over the last couple weeks I went pretty customs-crazy and I made sure to get this one done.

So you take a Transformers Prime series Voyager Megatron and install this ultra-cool Renderform kit. The parts are cast in a nice purple but the surface quality was very faceted so I decided to sand it smooth and paint both the parts and a few strategic places on Megatron to make him even more like Galvatron. Many other people have done this kit so admittedly a search on Google Images provided me some great examples.

My first take was with bright metallic purple paint. I have to admit in person something just didn't work, the color didn't look 'mean' enough...

So I actually went and re-painted all the purple with a more solid color, which also happened to better match the purple on the factory leg panels. In addition, I decided to mix up a dark metallic grey for the hands and feet, added a Decepticon silver Reprolabel and BOOM, Galvatron is born!

Some pics:

So overall it was a super-fun project and quite easy to do...

All the best,

EchoTF

Not bad at all, the repaint is nicely done. Although the hand cannon is a little too big, just my own feeling.

BTW, which Galvatron is that? The one on the right, looks like generation Galvatron, but way bigger.

Oh, the Cannon comes with the kit, I looks great in person but yeah it's huge!

The bigger Generation style Galvatron is a custom I made from a KO a couple years ago that needed fairly heavy mods to look decent.

looks great steve.i agree, the second version of the purple looks much better with how the colors flow together making him less megatron-ish if that makes sense

only thing i would add is some panel lining on the red stomach area to give him the 4 or 6 pack abs that's a galvatron essential, though i don't know if they have purple gundam panel markers.

The add-ons molds look great. If applied to AM-15 mold I think the proper colour variation would look spectacular.

$60+ for an unpainted kit... that's just too much...
But it's a cool customization for sure.

The fit is very good, but I'd say the finish is "Faceted", which is to say a bit rough. It actually has a bit of 'charm' that way, but I find Prime to be very smooth and sculpted so I sanded the "Faces" out of the parts to make them more organic.

Renderform was pretty up front about the finish of the kit as it was a limited run, that's also the reason for the price. (Though I don't recall paying $60, maybe the price jumped recently) Overall I thought it was such a clever project I jumped onboard and overall I'm really happy.

Wow, nice work! Not many people have really posted their finished Galvatrons with this kit. So its always nice to see someone's custom, especially since everyone's look different.

The kit was actually close to $60, as it was an exclusive through A3U, so it had markup for them to provide it for sale. Even then, with the higher price tag, it sold out within 3 days, and people still ask me to reissue this kit. The molds weren't design for production like my regular Renderform kits, and I actually had to cast about over double amount of parts to have enough good pieces to actually ship out.
