Exactly what I said. G1 character names were not trademarked until 1987. The first time Siegel and Schuster sued DC for a cut of Superman's profits had a side effect. It set the precedent that if you don't slap the R or TM symbol on every piece of printed material with the character then your trademark means exactly jack. So while Ultra Magnus was trademarked in 1986 for the 1987 line. Hot Rod wasn't. Because he lack either a TM or an R after his name in any printed materials that I've found scans of (minus the box). Where as in scans of the 1987 toy catalogues Ultra Magnus and Superion DO have R's after their names, meaning they WERE trademarked. So the only early G1 character names that they did lose were the ones that got action master figures. As by then they were trademarking every character name as a matter of course.

That was taken from the TRU USA website.

I managed to get TRU MP Rodimus at TFCON ... and he's pretty awesome. Offshoot and having 2 matrix's is dope!

Offshoot's gun mode is a little crooked and doesn't fit into Rodi's hand too well.

The chest part still doesn't clamp together that tightly.

But it looks like they fixed the legs and he's able to hold his guns securely.

Great figure.
