Re: I just made a little kid's day!

Right on!

I do something similar in the sense that anything I don't collect, stuff that may not be worth my time selling all goes to the little guy next door. I've even got a few MISB things @ the value village for $2.99 (armada blurr and rotf brawl) that I gave him one day when the older kids outside wouldn't let him join their hockey game.

Re: I just made a little kid's day!

Had a freind bring his nephew to see my collection last year, and the little guy was in awe. I was so honored, I gave him my animated Bumblebee. He colored me a picture afterwards he was so happy. Thats a fridge maker Definitly a fantastic collectors moment

Good on you sir

Re: I just made a little kid's day!

Thats fantastic. My wife and I did something of the same. We where at the Con in Burlington few weekends back and went to visit some friends in Port Credit. I gave Wills (their boy) a couple RPMs and the look on his face was so great. He went from being shy and quiet to excited and totally surprised. It is priceless to give a gift and the reactions are so positive. Good Karma.

That kid will probably be an active member of the TF comunity when he's a young adult, and that will very likely be that one great TF memory he'll always be ready to share. Very cool thing you did there, bud.

Re: I just made a little kid's day!

A lady I work with at the clinic, her son loves TFs. For his birthday I gave him my extra ROTF Superion, and last week I gave him my slightly less than perfect battle ops BB.

that's awesome man, it's great to give some to kids once in a while, their excitement brings you back to a simpler time too i think

this pic was taken right after i gave my nephews the 07 movie line in guatemala, the look on their faces, and the excitement was worth the money i spent on them.

Anyways, I was going to donate '07 Prime to Value Village, but I was a little hesitant because I was including his missile, instrcutions and tech specs, and I didn't want them to get separated. And since I have worked at VV in the past I know that often happens.
I also really wanted a kid to get it rather than having it get snapped up by a collector like us.

So, the wife and I are loading some stuff into the car on Sunday along with stuff we were going to donate like '07 Prime, when one of my neighbors came out with his boy taking out the recycling; and as we were talking I looked at the kid and asked him "Say, do you like Transformers?", he shyly nodded yes, "Well then I think I have something for you." I went into the back of the car, pulled out Prime and gave it to him.

The look on his face was priceless, he was completely exstatic!
He was so excited that I knew he'd be playing with it all day, and I was right. When we came home later that night I heard the engine sound effect coming from the kid's window

It was exactly what I wanted. For my toy that has lovingly been cared for on my shelf for the last 4 years to go to a kid who was going to love the crap out of it and really play with it the way it was meant to be.

A ray of sun shine, in a gloomy world................
