ummm....yes and no.

yes,it was my own idea to use the tftmo7 "dropkick" deluxes for the insecticons.
no,the idea of the "insecticons" were and still are the creations of hasbro/takara.

like venksta,i prefer to stay nuetral on this.i was just initially under the impression that neither dak or don got the proper due/creds for it and some company was just plainly copying the masterpiece that dak created,(even though it was created from don's phenominal artworks).but now that i know that all parties are satisfied........
can't we all just get along???

Re: MasterCollectors = MasterStealers?

This thread provides intellectual discussion regarding copyright and free base material (not crack, honestly).

This is a forum about toys.

Just saying.

You may not have said that ALL customizers are stealing. However by saying that I stole, you are implying that everyone that does what I do is a thief as well. You have stated in simple terms that By me creating a custom figure, based on a comic book character, for my own PERSONAL use... I am stealing. And anyone else, like chan's Insecticons... is not? are you trying to say that somebody making a diorama of Ultra Magnus busting out of his armour like the Dreamwave comic cover is stealing? How about somebody that makes a kings throne from an image they saw in a book? How is this any different?

I am not gaining anything off what I had MADE for my own PERSONAL use, there for you cannot accuse me of stealing.

Re: MasterCollectors = MasterStealers?

Customizing is a very gray area with Hasbro.
They have stated many times.
They don't have an issue with us, as long as it's not for personal gain & infringing on IP's.
If I'm not mistaken (Dak correct me if I'm wrong),
but didn't Don supply you with more in-depth art work for you to create Nova Prime from?
What Dak, Chans, Myself & countless other do, is a skill.
Most of us realize that we do not "own" any rights to our creations.
We take alot of creative freedom with each of our projects.
To make something Hasbro cannot.
The same with the likes of FP, SGCollect & Igear.
FP is pushing things almost to far, along with other company's
It's only a matter of time until Hasbro puts a stop to it.
I HIGHLY doubt this will ever see a "mass release".

On a side note, anybody else catch this mistake ?

Hey Aladdin stole food and gave to others. He wasn't stealing for his own PERSONAL use, but he was still a thief.

The above statement has absolutely nothing to do with kitbashing in any way, shape, or form. Only to bust your balls.

meh, certain admin hates me. dont really care...

i love how people just putting words in my mouth. I never said "all customizers are thieves"

there is level of originality when comes to customizing. some people use the character idea and different toy created a project with their own design, some just do a reprint or create something based on someone else's design.

sure dak's nova prime is amazing, i am impressed by his craftsmanship, but the design is based on someone elses' art work.

I think what np means is that the info that's written is wrong.while dak's nova took first place at "botcon08",at tfcon08 it was another member here that took first place for a crazy miniature seekers squadron piece.(I think the user name was "sunstar" or "sunstorm".)
