Re: To the MISB purists...
I'm primarily a Star Wars collector so I have several MISB figures (like the entire single carded 30th Anniversary McQuarrie line on US and Canadian cards) but because SW figures are relatively cheap (on sale) I have my open versions as well.
I can't "not play" with something so if it's a special item I have to have an opener.
I don't delude myself in thinking they will be worth money one day so the only reason I keep the few items carded is because they are landmarks in my hobby and I want to keep them as they were purchased.
