Re: Man arrested for bandishing Megatron toy (allegedly)
I can't blame the neighbours for calling the police, from a distance G1 Megatron does look like a real Walther P-38.
Hell, if I had my pellet gun (which I broke... boooo), which is translucent and black with a safety orange tip, and waved it around out a window, I would expect to have the cops called on me. Its just a misunderstanding.
I'm conscious of the fact that they look very close to real weapons, and would expect reaction to them as if they were real weapons.
That being said, since there was a 3-hour standoff its obvious that the guy was upset and distraught. I'm glad nobody was hurt.
And on top of that I sincerely hope that there won't be any knee-jerk backlash against toy guns.
The fact that this gun was a toy doesn't have much bearing on the event. It could have been a pellet gun, toy gun, real gun, or even paintball gun, I'd expect that the whole thing would have happened the same way.
