Re: Green Giant or Hercules?

You know, I haven't got either of these things yet due to budget concerns, but I'm starting to think I might go for that Green Giant instead. Something about him just looks... I don't know... Nostalgicier.

Also 400$ is a much better price for my budget. Hell, I could probably sell off G1 Predaking Re-Issue from Takara and make enough for GG. I wonder if I should or not though? HMMMMM.

Re: Green Giant or Hercules?

Just finished putting Green Giant together. It does have a more G1-ish vibe to it, which I find very appealing. Visually, he's more striking than Hercules. More detailed, more paint apps. Even if he's smaller, the size and the mass are still impressive. And I dig the headsculpt. The mouth and visor gimmicks are pretty cool. That set = win.

After playing with the individual figures, I find the engineering to be very TF-like with lots of creative solutions for the little things. With the plastic quality it has, this set feels like it could have been a legit HasTak release. The engineering on Green Giant feels more MP-ish than on Hercules, that feels more toy-ish imo (and maybe sturdier, because the individual pieces are chunkier).

Re: Green Giant or Hercules?

I'm glad you said the quality of green giant isn't crap and feels legit. That's my biggest concern with 3rd party, esspecially expensive ones.

Re: Green Giant or Hercules?

Seriously, between the two, Green Giant wins. Easily. Cheaper, better looking, better likeness, better engineering, better integration, better paint job. If the shovels were fully articulated (with working pistons) on Scrapper, Scavenger and Bonecrusher, it would be perfection.

Hey that's right! I wish we all had giant name tags with our Cybertron.ca username on them...I'm still matching people names to user names! Any way it was great meeting you there.

(Sorry for the OT)

Re: Green Giant or Hercules?

Which stores has the best deal on the Maketoys Green Giant? Should I order the Maketoys Green Giant on a web store like TFsource (says shipping is reduced for orders over ($150) or wait until they hit my local comic/TF stores? I live in Vancouver, but I am not sure if stores like Metropolis or A3U will carry them without a pre-order.
