I don't equate strong emotions and crying to trauma.

I've personally cried in more movies as an adult than I did as a child. And it's cause the movies were That good.

You're right the the conditions for us enjoying Transformers 30 years ago cannot be fully reproduced.
But we can still make an effort to give them the best chances of enjoying it.

I guess it comes down to, if something is worth enjoying, maxwell to it right.
My use of the word Trauma was unfortunate I agree that the scene should not be traumatic. Traumatic is not a synonym for Upsetting and I should not have used it as such.

I think I was about 9 when I saw it my brother was 6. I cried. My brother just abut lost it. Despite the beginning I loved the movie as a whole. But the consequences of that scene had their impact. I did remain bothered by it for some time.

Was Prime suitable for kids in terms of graphic lasers hitting violence?

Animated would be a tough 1 to argue.
Although the lameness of its human villains could cancel it in the TF morals category!

What didn't you like in the beginning?
The slaughter in Ironhide's ship?

Upsetting is definitely genuine.
If you could go back in time and parent yourself (TF-wise), what would you change in your viewing?
Would you see it at a later age?
Give some warnings?

Pretty much the whole bit where shortly after introducing a bunch of new guys I didn't care about I got to watch many of the characters I loved bite it. It was an abrupt and seemingly unnecessary raising of the stakes.

Now the rest of the movie made me love and appreciate many of the new characters but upset was definitely what I was at the conclusion of the first act.

I would not choose to watch it when I was older, not by a stretch. I plan to watch it with my 4 year old nephew soon.
