Scale difference in the same line?

So I picked up the Special Ratchet (DOTM, the red one) but is his scale off from the others? I don't have his first paint (Green) one to compare, but he's like an inch shorter or more against DOTM Bumble Bee.

I thought Ratchet was taller? Same with Barricade and Bee, anyone notice a odd scale difference in the same series line?

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

This is not new at all in transformers. In the transformers world I'd say it's the norm that scales don't match up. Starting from G1, and going through all the other series, up to an including animated and prime. Scales never match up.

If you want a slightly more proper-scaled Ratchet, I think you have you to look at the voyager class figures - not the deluxe figures.

Problem with the DOTM Voyager Ratchet is that he much larger then the other DOTM Voyagers, since he is a repaint of ROTF Ratchet; which of course is pre-mechtech, pre-shrunken TF's thanx to said mechtech.

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

Reminds me of the Play Arts Final Fantasy XIII line. The first wave was HUGE and the second wave was tiny, yet they are all supposed to stand next to each other.

I'm not too worried about it. I ain't got any room for Voygers. I still need to figure out where to put all the figs still in boxes.

I just found it odd, but then again, I never noticed it before so that might be why

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

Even though Soundwave is a voyager, there is a huge difference between him and Jazz...I mean, when Blaster comes into play, he's a giant compared to his musical comrade.

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

Metroplex needs to be another 10X larger just to be slightly in scale with the rest of the TF toys. I do agree that on the basic side it can be annoying. I wish BW Rhinox was a Mega instead of...oh geez, was it deluxe back then or basic?
Anyway, let it go. It's better that way.

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

Rhinox was a deluxe figure, same size as Waspinator, Cheetor, Tarantulas, Dinobot... none of them were 'show-accurate' but he's easily the least. Color, size, details.

Man, who was it from Hasbro who said they'd contemplated a voyager Classics Rhinox a few years back? Never happened, but would've been sweet. Though it's pretty odd in general for Prime not to be the biggest or at least 2nd biggest; Dinobot and Rhinox were both bigger. Hell, in the show Dinobot towered over most of the Maximals.

Re: Scale difference in the same line?

Yep, going back to scale issue. I think Dinobot was taller than Primal with Rhinox pretty much around there too.
