Sniff, sniff... a new meaning to the Marvel TF crossovers, perhaps?

I'm just messing with you.

I'm not sure if this has already been brought up a hundred times before, but...

After watching my G1 DVD's again over the past few days, I'm starting to wonder if Robot Chicken may have actually gotten it's name from Transformers. In the episode "Fire On The Mountain", there's a great quote from Brawn where he says "Ain't no one calling ME a robot chicken!" after he hears Ironhide say "Optimus, old buddy, this is what separates the Autobots from the robot chickens".

Considering the entire premise of Robot Chicken is essentially one giant spoof of 80's cartoons & toylines, I wouldn't be surprised if this is where the creators picked up the name.

Wikipedia says differently, however, so I could just be reaching here

You're correct. In fact, EVERY time we see her watching TV, it's Transformers that's on.

But yeah, off the top of my head, some of blatent or roundabout TF references I remember are:

- Soundwave on Family Guy setting up his new office and his family picture frame transforms

- Optimus Prime on Family Guy where he turns out to be Jewish

- Simpsons intro where they all show up as various vehicles and transform into robot versions of themselves

- Multiple Robot Chicken skits including Prime getting prostate cancer, catching up with Soundwave years after TF ended where he now works as a port-a-potty, and Megatron & Shockwave finding Soundwave on eBay (where they actually got Frank Welker to do the voices)

- Prime standing in the background of the South Park episode where Butters gets transported to Imagination Land or whatever it was called

- Megatron on Drawn Together where he transforms & threatens Foxxy Love

And to a lesser degree, another episode of Drawn Together where a bunch of Asian child labor workers merge to form a giant robot kind of thing clearly meant to be a tongue-in-cheek TF reference.

Wu-Tang(from the album Wu-Tang Forever, 1997)

This is RZA's last line from the first verse of Impossible:

"A space night like Rom, consume planets like Unicron,
Blasting photon bombs from the arm like Galvatron"

Re: TF cameos in media

The book "Microserfs" by Douglas Coupland mentions Gobots.

There was an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 where David Silver's friend dies, and he goes to his Mom's house afterwards and she starts talking about how when they were kids they used to play with Transformers. Now he's dating Megan Fox... weird coincidence.
