Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?

I have an RiD Storm Jet, MISB on my wall. The only figure I had that I kept MISB. Mainly because he was in such demand at the time.

I love the Jet Storm mold, so I'm not complaining. Still -- seems silly now but I can't bear to take him out of the package.

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?

Sigh... yes. There's an Animated Rodimus unopened at home because of this. I still can't tell if I want him or not.

I'm also feeling the pressure to shell out $125 or more for the FP Bruticus set. On my own I probably wouldn't be tempted, but SO many people are posting over and over and over how awesome he is and how its a no-brainer to buy and in fact if one doesn't buy now they are sure to regret it forever and ever and ever...

it pretty much is a no brainer, not because everyone says it's awesome, because even if you didn't like it, you could easily resell it later and make more than hyour money back without being a scalper, but if you wait, and find out you want it, you'll be paying for it later when it either doubles or triples in value

on topic, i have been hyped into figures like bludgeon and mindwipe, but only after i seen them beside other classics figures

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?

I have a plan in place on what I want for my collection and I am sticking to it. The only figure I have that may be anywhere close to hype related is the Generations line Drift but I think it is a cool and worthy figure to own other than that I stick to what I want and like. As for Generations Prime, I'm happy to say I'm skipping him and Titanium Prime will be my WFC toy.

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?

I almost picked up Drift from all peer pressure but stopped after staring it for a few minutes at the store.

I did pick up ROTF HA jazz cuz of the hype. It is good but I don't think he sits well with my MP, CHUG, or G1s

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?

I am a super picky collector and this means that I will evaluate a TF for months before I buy them. I am becoming really finicky now that I have most of what I want from previous lines.

There are quite a few that I have bought because I thought that they would be better then they actually are or they are exclusives....then comes the regret. Then comes the enevatble disposal of said figure.

I am the type who buys everything because I have bad OCD about my collection. So no, hype doesn't play into it, i'm getting it anyways. I am so weak.
