I think these are cybertron based alt modes. I doubt Cybertronian teenagers rocked the walkman back in Cybertron . The titans return soundwave turned into a boom box but the robot was way too boxy.
This is still an update and the robot mode is a good fit for the CHUG line IMHO.

Yeah that does not fly with me. Have any 3rd party companies come up with a Walkman soundwave?
Shockwave isn't a gun either but there was a way to find it. You really think there won't be a way to get that out of Soundwave

If I understand correctly you want an update to G1 Soundwave in the Seige line? In said line Shockwave isn't his G1 self, he's a spaceship and yet remove kibble and viola. I'm sure there will be a way to get the new Soundwave into a close enough version
