Sources for G1 figures

Hey, working on the G1 collection again and was wondering other then here on the boards (thanks to everyone I've bought from) and some Facebook groups, is there any people or sites that anyone could recommend for quality and service of G1 figures.

And any feedback on dealings with Transformerland.com would be appreciated too.

Thanks for any help.

There's always eBay but be prepared to pay to dollar for minty figures. At least there's lots of choice. Are you after anything in particular?

Re: Sources for G1 figures

Over the years honestly I had mixed results with Transformerland, a couple of deals went bad; Ebay was generally good but expensive, and some of my favorite Ebay sellers are gone and the new import fees for most items are nasty, nasty, nasty.

I know you said other than the boards, but some board members here have sales threads with G1 at really good prices, and if you can make it to TFCon, it's a great place for all lines, and most years a good range of prices on G1. So my advice would be Cybertron.ca and TFcon, then Kijiji, Transformerland and Ebay as last resort, so to speak

Re: Sources for G1 figures

I agree Ebay is dead for Canadians. You can still find the odd guy selling figures at auction style auctions and real shipping costs, but they are very rare now a days.

Most of Ebay are rediculous Buy It Now prices, stupid import fee's on used items which makes no sense, and the dreaded Global Shipping Program.

Myself have been collecting all the season 1 bots and cons from the original cartoon, so far I'm just over half way, I find if you can find a great deal of near mint complete bots in a lot, go for it, even if it has a few you don't want.

TFcon is the number 1 way to get G1 figures in my opinion. You get fair prices, canadian prices, no shipping, and you get to see the item in person before you buy it, so you know what you're getting. All that plus a pretty great selection.

I don't bother with Kijiji as trying to get a hold of anyone is usually a wild goose hunt.

Cybertron.ca here is my second choice, I watch the sell forum almost every day for guys selling G1 figures, and for the most part the prices are reasonable and the guys on here are friendly and easy to deal with.

Re: Sources for G1 figures

Haven't bought from them for a while, but personally never had any issues with Transformerland. Biggest problem you will find is shipping costs to Canada + the USD to CAD exchange rate is absolute crap right now.

Ebay use to be the place to snipe deals every now and then, but has since gone down the toilet:
-greedy douche sellers who think everything TF related commands crazy $$$$
-as Echo mentioned, those idiotic import fees
-a lot of (US-based) sellers won't ship to Canada

Board members are great for sure, even try TFW for those willing to ship to the great white north.

Re: Sources for G1 figures

Ebay Transformers sales are only overpriced in North America because of the movies, they're not that price anywhere else in the world. I built a huge part of my collection by buying from other Ebay sites around the world where prices aren't so insane:
- ebay.co.uk (70% of my collection came from here)
- ebay.nl (Netherlands - use a translator to read the auctions)
- ebay.au (Australia and also overpriced)

Ebay used to have a global.ebay.com website where you could enter an item and it would search every country for the results, that was amazing. Unfortunately one day I logged in and it was gone, I don't know why. Now I have to search them all individually.

And shipping from the UK used to be under $2 for just about anything but it has since skyrocketed for some unknown reason. Now it's like $20 to ship anything.

I've had no issues with Transformerland, but as the dollar worsened I have slowed down on using them. Shipping was always fine with them as well, as they use USPS First Class.

Re: Sources for G1 figures

Thanks for the input guys. I agree that eBay has been dead for years and I've been coming to TFcon since 2009 (looking forward to this year) and its usually when I do my biggest buying of the year. The boards here are always my go to during the inbetween time of the conventions. So it looks like sticking with what you know is the way to go. And let's face it our community is pretty much the best.

eBay. If you're not in a rush, you can definitely find some amazing deals. I recently scored two insecticons, with boxes, and paperwork for $25.00ea, as well as Ratchet and Ironhide, both complete, minor yellowing, no paint chips for $40.00.
