Transformers Masterpiece MP-34S Shadow Panther Annouced
Via Hobby Dengekki Web*we have images of the new Beast Wars Masterpiece:*MP-34S Shadow Panther. The figure is a black repaint of previous MP-36 Cheetor. It is a homage to the old Takara Beast Wars D-7 Shadow Panther. The original toy was also a straight repaint of the first BW Cheetor toy. This new Masterpiece figure will include a a new battle mask which is also a reference to the original BW mold of the character. MP Shadow Panther will be a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive. It's kinda hard to picture a cheetahs as a panther though. I think it looks very nice, but it's a bit skinny if we're to believe it's a panther.

It's cool they're doing this, though I won't be getting it. Please do Tigatron next. It would take a remold, but they can do it I'm sure. Come on Tigatron!

Agreed. I really liked the original Shadow Panther, but he had the advantage of coming out of that generic, bulky first Cheetor mold. The MP is a much better cheetah, and unfortunately therefore a lousy black panther.

Well, preordered. I told myself I'd buy any new character redecos in this line. Shadow Panther looks pretty great.
A panther is really just a term for any big cat with melanism so I can buy this being a Cheetah version of the term. And while I know there are no recorded examples of a melanistic cheetah, I know it's theoretically possible for it to happen, same with Lions and Tigers.
