Yeah I'll echo the obvious choices.
Decepticons
Megatron
Starscream
Soundwave
Autobots:
Optimus
Bumblebee
Grimlock
The Autobots are a bit trickier as they had way more guys with personality in the first season than the Decepticons.
But those three seem to be the most recognizable at least these days. Prime and Bee are everywhere, and Grimlock is the Dinosaur one. I see more of these three than any other Autobots in supplemental material like sticker books, t-shirts and posters. Honorable mentions go out to Ironhide and Jazz.
