Pizza People Rule
First up, I want to thank everyone who came out to the PIzza Party which was a SMASH success.
Absolutely everyone who preordered came to pick up their pizza. I want you guys to know I really appreciate this because...
The goal of this dinner has always been to have all the hanging-out, meeting-people good times of a con banquet WITHOUT the bad food and stupid prices. After everything was said and done, the party broke even with just enough to provide myself and Phalanx with a free lunch the next day. It's never been my goal to make profits off the party, since (like most of the rest of you) I think money should be for TOYS! (On the other hand, had I not made my money back, NO TOYS FOR STORMY....) So I really appreciate everyone who supported the pizza party.
I also want to put out a special thanks to Guber for providing us with dessert!
I'm pleased at how well the pay-by-the-slice format worked this year and I think we'll keep doing it in the future. I'm also proud that we were able to offer FIVE kinds of pizza (and there was NO pizza in the garbage, that's right, it was ALL GONE by Saturday noon.)
Yes, the future, plans are already being laid for Pizza Party 2009. To that end, I'd love to have some feedback!
One thing I was thinking was trying to get paper plates next year. I noticed napkins alone weren't enough for a lot of folks. If the price goes up slightly to cover the cost of paper plates (see above note about "breaking even") would that be a fair trade, or would people prefer to make do with napkins if its' cheaper?
Any other feedback would be appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Re: Pizza People Rule
It was a great party, Storm. As a TFCon noob, I thought it was an excellent event to kick things off.
While I agree that the napkins started to feel the heat when weighed down with 3+ slices, it wasn't that much of an issue for me.
Looking forward to saying "I'm here to claim the slices of Vangelus" next year!

Awesome pizza indeed.
Both the real pizza and the desert.

I agree. The pizza has a thick enough crust to be without plates. Save money and effort.
Thank you once again, Stormy and Phalanx for providing a great, affordable service to the hungry TFconners.
Thanks to the TFcon director for providing the Paris room for the partyu; it was a great size and right there at the foyer.
And thanks everyone who attended for a fun, friendly atmosphere.

Re: Pizza People Rule
I'd go for paper plates if it doesn't cost too much. Divided among everyone, it wouldn't be too much I presume. Just as long as it's a convenient number to deal with change. I thought the whole thing was great and the pizza was good.

Great as always, TFcon can't truly begin without your injection of cheese and tomato sauce without my soul.

Re: Pizza People Rule
Yeah, I totally agree. Before the pizza party I was trying to figure out how to break the ice and spent the hour before hand kinda skulking around. Then I got my pizza sat down and then Vangelous wandered over and we got to talking.

Re: Pizza People Rule
I'd also like to thank everyone who came to sit down and have a slice. The positive response has been great to hear.
Thanks again to all the participants who made it fun, Stormy for making it happen, and the staff at TFcon for making it all possible.
Here's hoping for an even bigger turnout next year,
-X (the quiet guy handing out the pizza)
