question about chrome

i've bought a misb rid scourge a while back and i decided to put it on display. it was held in packaging with twist ties, but when i took it out i notice a some wear on the grill. its a 10 year old toy but can the chrome wear out in the box? the tanker trailer was in perfect condition. theres no signs it was played with or taken out of the box, the tape around the hood of the cab was still intact and it still had the elastic bands around it. its a small gripe, considering it got it a complete figure for 40 bucks, but has this happen to anyone?

The scuffing could have happened when they were packaging the figure. Sometimes figures come scratched up from the factory.

Also, where were the scuff marks located? The figure still moves around in the box and maybe it rubbed up against the twist ties creating the chrome wear.

Oh this is totally common.

A great example is Beast Machines Ultra Class Jetstorm (circa early 2000) and Beast Wars Transmetal Rattrap (circa 1998)

Both even fresh from the package have chrome flaking issues.

ooo okay, its right on the grill of the cab, but its not that bad and you dont notice at all in robot mode. just a minor gripe
