Transformers Studio Series Core Class Wheelie In-Hand Images

Coming to us from*HOBBYMIZER ??? Facebook group*and Baidu user*XPrime we have our first in-hand images of the new*Transformers Studio Series Core Class Wheelie. This toy seems to be out in Taiwan right now and we have some clear shots at the packaging and both modes of this new mold of the little Autobot. As we can see from the images, he’s pretty articulated and fun. As an extra bonus, thanks to Autobase Aichi we also can confirm that Studio Series Core Class Ratchet has also been spotted in Taiwan, so we may see images any time soon. » Continue Reading.

Somehow, they made it worse than the original G1 toy.

Welp, getting Legends Wheelie because I want Goshooter. That version is way better than this thing.

I will be contrary here - I actually like it! A pity about the hands in care mode, but I like the colour choices and believe it or not I really liked Wheelie as a kid and purposely asked for his toy!

Oh, I love Wheelie too, I find his manner of speech rather charming, and felt very sorry for the little guy with how much the general fanbase seems to love crapping on him. I must be one of the few who did not toss or consign to a drawer that figure of him that came with SS86 Grimlock. In fact, he occupies pride of place on Grimlock's back in my collection. I just don't think this new version is that great an improvement over the TR/Legends version because of the janky vehicle mode. It's somewhat comparable to me with the difference between Generations/SS86 Arcee and ER Arcee, or RTS Tracks and Kingdom Tracks.

I'm getting the Takara Legends Masterforce stuff, so basically, the God Ginrai boxset, two Overlords to create their combined form in the pack-in manga, and the Autobot and Decepticon Headmaster Jrs (that were sold separate from the God Ginrai set). and Clouder. Of course, getting the latter stuff also entails getting those Wheelie, Ravage, Shockwave, and Kickback figures because they were included with the Headmasters.

I figured that since I'm getting Legends Wheelie, there's no real need for this figure. I can tell you right now, that this will be a very expensive month for me, lol. Will probably give the Legends Shockwave and Legacy Core Shockwave to Siege Shockwave so he can dual wield himself. I'm not slavishly G1 so the TR/Legends figure not being fully cartoon accurate doesn't bother me. I don't like the clear windshield on the chest of the Legends figure, but that's really it. The vehicle mode looks way better and has Titanmaster functionality as well, so that's a big plus.

I may still pick up this figure if I happen to see him in a store as maybe an impulse buy, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to order him or purposely hunt him down at retail. But that also depends if he can ride SS86 Grimlock like the non-transforming figure can. So, it's not a high priority or a must have for me and I won't be bothered if I don't get him.
