Re: sale vs selling

What makes you think they're overcharging? Automaton is charging about 15.26 CAD to ship anywhere in Canada when it can actually cost anywhere from $10 to $20+ for the smallest parcels. A3U is charging about 13.87 CAD. That's pretty reasonable.

Re: sale vs selling

Not saying they are overcharging per say but when it's now 70c Us they are definitely getting more for shipping than they use to. Thst is irrefutable.

Actually, you're wrong because we have to pay exchange charges on our credit cards or through our bank to pay them in US funds. So no, it isn't the same, you can end up paying as much as 5-6% more.

So don't say it's the same when it isn't.

They are perfectly capable of sending out a bill to their CANADIAN customers in CANADIAN DOLLARS when the order is placed.

As mentioned, part of the reason they charge in US is because they sell to the world, not just Canada.

Another part of the reason they charge in US is to protect against the crazy up and down nature of the Canadian dollar.

Retailers pay their suppliers in US funds. So let's take an example. Let's say the Us and Can dollar are on a 1-to-1 par. So if a retailer charges the customer in Canadian for pre-orders, it won't matter.

A $100 Canadian pre-order will get them back $100 US. BUT what happens when the dollar drops ten cents? That $100 Canadian pre-order just ended up being $90 US. They just lost $10 US dollars.

Multiply that by dozens of orders, and that can mean hundreds and thousands of dollars lost because the currency exchange rate fluctuated.

I don''t know the profit margins for small retailers, but I suspect something like this can mean the difference between making a profit or losing money, or staying in business or not.

And if anyone wants to bring up charging taxes in US too, do the math, it doesn't matter. The tax on $100 US is the same as tax on $130 Canadian.
So using your logic there, which I agree with, means that if they buy something in us funds at 70 cents Canadian and then our dollar goes up to 90 cents US then they should lower their prices right? Because at that point they are charging us more.

I'm sure A3U and Automaton don't give a f*ck about what you think about their policies and your entitlement. It's their business, not yours. If you're not happy, do what you're already do, buy elsewhere or don't buy at all. Complaining day in day out about it won't change a thing, especially if you have zero intention of being one of their customers regardless of what they do.
