thoughts on a elm street prequel?

what with the original nightmare on elm street having been remade over time portraying freddy as having been in life a child murdering pedophile something which the original move series had only hinted at over time originally.

what with a sequel to the remake being in the works right now .

how might a prequel storyline play out over time exploring the full origin for freddys character in life when it comes to his dark origins and the path he took in life that ultimately led to his becoming a genuinely inhuman monster in every sense of the word?

to be hoenst i actually think a good origin prequel storyline might go something like this

i read this thread recently over at the elm street forums and in my humble opinion as a long time freddy fan i actually think this would make for a good start of darkness origin for freddys character if oen were to apply it to the newly remade elm street movie series

i happen to be a long time lurker over on the elm street forums. long time reader ZERO times poster so far. for the most part i just like to read.

anyways i got to reading kidkrgrs idea on the matter and liked it so much i wanted to start a discussion on the whole idea of a movie prequel

any thoughts folks?

I think if they did do a prequel the movie would be completely different then the movies that came before. It's like doing a movie about Peter Parker BEFORE he became Spiderman, sure it's labeled a "SPIDERMAN movie" but it would be a completely different movie then what audiences would expect of the franchise.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. There was some telling of Freddy's earlier years in the sixth movie that shows his father (Alice Cooper) beating him then Freddy retaliating back. I believe that if they take cues from his mother's rape, his teenage abuse and then into adulthood, it might have a chance
