Re: Official Mortal Kombat Film Reboot Thread

Guys, it wasn't a trailer at all, it's a short film. There is no contract for a movie here, no script, no plot and no deals on the table. They developed the short film for $7500 to put together a vision the director had in his head and wanted to show people. No company has picked it up yet.

Re: Official Mortal Kombat Film Reboot Thread

I don't know what to think

I am a big fan of the series but this direction............ I dunno...

It does not help one of my favorite characters, Reptile is handled so...... odd.

I for one, welcome this new direction.

If I wanted old Mortal Kombat, I'd go watch Big Trouble In Little China.

I have to give them respect, for putting Scorpion up front and not trying to make us think Liu Kang is an interesting character.

Didn't think MK could get grittier.

Hopefully better than the 2 movies that currently exist did!

Re: Official Mortal Kombat Film Reboot Thread

I always thought the first Mortak Kombat movie was one of the better game adaptations.Entertaining, fun to watch, had stuff that pleased fans of the games and yet was accessible to anyone who had never heard of Mortal Kombat before. My only major complaint about it was one of Liu Kang's "challenges" he faces was just to run up the stairs. WTF kind of a challenge was that to write into a movie with such amazing effects and mystical storyline?

I'd give this a shot if it ever went any further.
making Scorpion the focal point was quite interesting, the character deserves more than he got from the first 2 movies

Re: Official Mortal Kombat Film Reboot Thread

Why does everything have to go dark? I can see the merit with Mortal Kombat, but the with dark comes brutality, and a highly choreographed martial arts sequence, theatrical staging and framing goes against that direction.

Re: Official Mortal Kombat Film Reboot Thread

You know when the trailer first started I thought it looks a lot like Resident Evil. Then in the middle, the fight sequence reminded me a lot of the Matrix. Not that that's a bad thing. Those are 2 of my most favourite movie franchises. But I could have sworn I heard music from those respective movies in the those scenes as well. Still, if the actual movie is anything like that, it should be AWESOME!

Kind of disappointed they killed John Cage though. I kind of liked him. And like Protoman, I'm a little iffy on the more "real world" styling of the characters. I mean like, what are they gonna do for Raiden? Have him carry around a Tesla coil?

But hey, as long as it's good and they have the Mortal Kombat theme in there somewhere, I'll be very happy with it. I even liked the old movies, so I'm not that hard to please.

Oh, I just had a thought. What if they do what every other action movie seem to be doing recently and go 3D? lol Imagine. I guarantee Scorpions "Get over here!" movie will be shot right at the camera. They'd probably emphasize every characters finisher in 3D.
