Re: Soundwave, Music Label

Got my SW today and right off the bat, I have to say it's a fucking awesome toy. If they could've removed the electronics, added a hip/torso joint, given him his cassettes instead, and added a bit of die-cast, he'd be perfect as a masterpiece (IMO).

I haven't tried the electronics yet because I forgot my mini-SD at home, but one thing that sucks right away is the screw you need to remove to add/change/remove the battery.

It uses 1 AAA battery. It doesn't come with any belt clips or such for practical use.

The gun with the missle does not shoot and it comes with 4 extra hands that are trigger-fingers for gun use or to pose him as if he's ejecting.

Transformation is almost identical to G1 SW except for a few minor differences like sliding out the arms to the side a bit before separating them from his body as well as turning his thigh joints before straightening his legs to make him stand.

Best incarnation of SW to date (IMO), figure itself gets an A from me. As for the electronics, I'll have to test when I get home...

I need one! I would really use it as an mp3 player I think.

I keep asking this of anyone who gets it, but how good is it as a PORTABLE MP3 player?

I'm still on the fence. I could use a new player.

I'll check the mp3 capability tonight..but a few things to note right away - there's no display of any sort and there's no belt clip.

More details tonight..

This could be from a fruitful visit to Walmart. Just guessing.

Re: Soundwave, Music Label

Have been fiddling around with SW for over an hour now playing crystal clear music.. it's a great replacement player - only thing missing is a belt clip!

1. It is not limited to just 128kpbs mp3s at all
2. I've got a 2gig mini-SD card in there playing just fine, so the 1gig mini-SD card 'myth' is out the window too
3. The buttons work as designed - fwd skips a track ahead, rw goes back to the beginning of the song and pressing it again takes you back a track, pressing and holding play/pause for 2 secs turns the player on - pressing play/pause again will start the music. Pressing and holding play/pause for 2 secs and then letting go will turn off the player.

The part that sucks is:

a) no track display
b) no scan-forwarding in a track - it's only forwarding straight to the next track
c) possibly no shuffle mode for songs, you have to start from the beginning of the list every time. I haven't found anything about shuffle yet, but if I do, i'll post it - but at this point, there is no shuffle function.
d) due to no display, you can't tell how much battery you've used
e) the battery cover requires a small screwdriver to open and close - changing batteries can be a little pain..

Other than that, if I had a belt clip, I'd sport this sucker everywhere... I mean how badass would it be to carry a working Soundwave around everywhere!

*goes back to listening to tunes*
