Re: Post in this thread for help to identify a Transformers toy

thanks for the input.

im just collecting cheap TFs options for me and my son to play with. he just found his love for transformers, while reigniting mine in the process.

im not looking for the best stuff for now, just stuff we can beat up. however, if they are just going to break right away, id rather spend a few dollars more on something that'll last a tad bit longer even though they are going to take a beating. or perhaps i go even cheaper knowing they are going to fall apart within the year.

Wait for a sale. If you wanna bang things around, there are plenty of toys marketed by Hasbro currently aimed at younger kids that can take such a beating, in the long run you won't save money buying knockoffs because they won't last nearly as long.

Hasbro's own toys, as many of us will attest, aren't the sturdiest to begin with. Even handling a KO and trying to transofrm it can cause it to disintegrate. Now I know there are higher quality knock offs out there - but that's the thing with KO's, you aren't guaranteed anything. Even when buying a "higher" quality KO, it's a knock off. You can easily still end up with a bum figure, because QC standards are lower, etc, etc...

3P toys and their KO imitations are also not exactly meant for a child's hands.

Re: Post in this thread for help to identify a Transformers toy

we have a couple of newer pieces, but the son actually likes the older combiners for some reason, perhaps its because i do. as far as devastator went. choices were basically 10 bucks to way too much. i settled for that 40 dollar model. the thing is huge, hopefully i get a quality piece.

it looks to size up well with the os wei jiang bruticus and the mpp10 wei jiang prime that we will get way down the road for a display piece.

i may get a ko g1 dev too, the cheapest model. its not that much more than the starscream and bumblebee we just bought at toys r u. im also playing off my childhood nostalgia factor

Re: Post in this thread for help to identify a Transformers toy

I have that KO Devy/Hercules. It's what I call a 70% KO. The plastic is about 70% of where it should be. Like others have said, it'll hold up for display and careful handling, but anything rough will ruin it pretty fast.

IMHO, and it's worth what you pay for it, not something I'd let a kid bust up. I doubt it went through any safety tests or have any kid safety features.

I know us collectors like to rag on Hasbro products, but they have kid safe features that address choking hazards, parts breaking off into jagged points, or explode into shrapnel when smashed.

Just a thought.

It's the Leader from the first Bay movie, missing (at least) his gun and missile.

My boss @ work just picked me up the same OP @ a yard sale but he's missing all his rubber tires for some odd reason & of course his weapon. She also picked me up this TF which I have no idea who it is:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Yup thanx Tonestar. Here is a some more info on him from tfu.info

http://www.tfu.info/2005/Autobot/Longrack/longrack.htm

If you click on the carded pic link it shows it's actually from the Cybertron RID series.
I'll have to check to see if it still has a cyber key in it somewhere then. Anyway thanx again Tonestar.
