Again, at DOUBLE Hastak retail prices, these would come in at 60-70. They are actually charging TRIPLE + what those larger mass producing companies do.
I am sorry, margins on these must be huge.
These will likely be made in factories that are much cheaper to operate as well.
Hastak has all kinds of things to worry about a small ko company does not. They would have way, way more overhead than fp, even if their costs were cheaper based on producing a higher volume.

Continuing the "price" conversation from earlier in the thread, it's just a personal choice whether one wants to spend the money. For myself, it just highly depends on how much I like the design. For example, Scoria is MP sized but the design doesn't do a whole lot for me design-wise (just looks like an oversized articulated G1 Slag to me) so the price becomes too high for what it is. With FP items, I'm usually pretty happy with the designs, so I'll gladly spend a little extra to get it. But that's just my process.
|
And this is why we will continue to overpay for this stuff. With a general consumer attitude like this, I would be charging the absolute maximum I could too.
It may be a personal choice (isn't everything?).
But that does not change the fact that these are very expensive for what they surely cost to produce.
I'm no debating you can choose for yourself if you like to get greased up and bent over..you certainly can...like choosing to pay a pick up fee for something you bought online and are picking up in store.
I just think we should at least be aware of the value of the goods your buying versus what you're paying.
I would doubt landed cost on these is over 20$ per.

I sure won't argue with you on this WheeljackOff, you are 100% right. In this case however, with me being a single lady who lives alone, has a mortgage to pay and car payments to make, they've priced them beyond my reach. The times are that money is tight for a lot of collectors and FP might be pricing themselves out of the market. Time will tell I guess.
I'd be terribly sad if FP went away. They're doing the toys right: good quality product, great designs and making the characters we all love but no one else seems willing to produce. Hey, third party peeps, I hope you are out there and paying attention to this discussion, for a variety of reasons.....

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
Hey, no need to get nasty WJO, just stating an opinion. And I'm not suggesting that you have to buy something or support something just because I do. It's a free world, you can do what you want
I do think you are underestimating the cost per unit on a third party item though, between design, engineering, etc (and some of these third parties are fans/collectors that do this in their own time along with a day job). Hasbro has those costs too and they do have other overhead, but they're also big enough to spread their costs and risk over other parts and divisions of the company that's not TF related.
I'm not debating they're expensive, they are (I'm talking third party items in general), but everybody will have a different opinion on the cost vs worth on each item...that goes for HasTak items as well.
Ultimately we'll probably agree to disagree Let's move on...

On a completely different note, Aug 16th is the first Cybfest in Kent. Is anyone planning on going?

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
As for the price issue... don't the molds clock in at hundreds of thousands of dollars? When Hasbro is producing orders of magnitude more than the 3rd party companies, I could see 3x cost still being possible.
