Re: BW or G1 or both.
Never got into Beast Wars, it didn't catch my attention quite like G1 did several years prior... Back when Beast Wars was on, I was in my hockey and baseball cards craze.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
The general concept was better in G1, as were many of the toys (sure, the Beast Wars toys were articulated, but they were also all-plastic shellformers with terrible paint jobs. Not a great trade-off.)
The writing in the BW TV series was far, far better than anything G1 ever produced, though.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
Are we talking toys? Fiction?
Cause that's a loaded question.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
g1 gets thumbs up for starting it all, but if we're talking about the cartoon beast wars takes it. i remember watching that show religiously when i was a kid.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
Both for sure.
In terms of story, all you have to do is watch the first 1-2 seasons of Beast Wars and then you 'get it'...it just makes sense, is incredibly cool, and feels VERY connected to the franchise.
In G1 there are loads of beasties, (primatives?) though they are more "Zoids" than realistic in appearance, Beast Wars presents an evolutionary view of how this comes to be.
Toy-wise, the original Beast Wars aren't perfect, but G1 toys aren't either--the very reason why the re-imagining of Rattrap and Rhinox are so important, just like the re-imaging of G1 Prime or any other "CHUG" or "MP" figure...Beast Wars deserves the same love.
And a well-executed transformation from beast to robot can be just as cool as vehicle to robot.
But all that said, I can see why some people favor vehicles over animals for the alt-mode...that's just personal preference, and not worth arguing over, IMHO.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
Both. It is 1984 that started it all. Beast Wars was created amd produced in Canada. Funded by Canadians and had a much stronger story line.

Re: BW or G1 or both.
I watched a few episodes of bw when it was on tv but that was when I wasnt collecting anymore and the animal forms did nothing for me. The storyline seemed cool. Watching g1 now is a lot more cheesy then it was as a kid.
When it comes down to it for me its g1 though I love some animal formers like dinobots. Insecticons. Predacons etc. But for toys I have sentimental feelings for all my g1s and still have them all but none are on display and havent been since I was a kid. I also have zero interest in buying the g1s I dont have.
To me the bw toys just looked plain bad especially the transmetal? Is that what they were called when they were animals with vehicle parts also?? Whos retarded idea was it that thought that was cool?
Wall of text shortened. Imo I dont like beastformers other then the dinobots (the real dinobots not that shit raptor character) insecticons and predacons.
So please keep the masterpiece line to g1. Once we have ALL of them I can stop collecting and then make all the bw garbage.
