Thanks got one yesterday at Sallys, they called it developer but contains Hydrogen Peroxide as well. The one I got was Developer V40 about 12% HP, I paid around $8 close to a liter 945ml (not too sure), but you get the idea. They come in liquid & creme, I got the liquid so I can mix it with the 3% I purchased last year.

Re: hydrogen peroxide vs sun fading tested

Has anyone seen if the plastic will return to it yellowing state after a long time period? Even if it's kept out of sunlight? What's long term effects?

Re: hydrogen peroxide vs sun fading tested

I can vouch for 1-year, still white, but the principle speaks to your question i.e., Bromine was used as fire-retardant, UV unbonds the Bromine and draws it to the surface of the plastic and whitening bonds the Bromine to the hydrogen peroxide thereby removing it from the plastic altogether.

Bromine was only fire-retardant and does not contribute to the strength of the plastic so removing it should not detract from plastic strength.

Also, once the Bromine is gone, thé plastic should bot again yellow whether in sunlight or not.

But, other things apart from UV can harm plastic so still best to display responsibly.

Haven't disassembled anything before. I'll look at getting out the pins. Is there any way to remove screws whose tops have been deformed by rust?
Glad the glue is holding up...it sounds like the glue is either CA (crazy glue) or epoxy.

The screws could be tricky...they do make special tools to help removed stripped screws, usually at Canadian Tire...in other cases if the screw is exposed I cut a slot into it using a dremel (carefully, mind you) and turn the Phillips shape into a flat head. Can you post pictures? Maybe in a separate thread as this is about sun-fading....

Re: hydrogen peroxide vs sun fading tested

Took PMOP's gun out today, after a total of maybe 10-12 hours of direct sunlight. The difference is obvious, and awesome! I probably could have left it a bit longer, but it's fine for me. Now for his many panels...

Re: hydrogen peroxide vs sun fading tested

Reason I asked this as I had rewrite Ned a piece when this tread first appeared and although the piece never went to the same Yellow it did yellow somewhat over the next couple of years as opposed to the white ...also a prolonged dunk made the red chalked and dull for this piece

Re: hydrogen peroxide vs sun fading tested

Here are the low quality pics. Only his left gun has been changed. The other was already unnaturally unaffected by yellowing. The difference in the two shoulder guns is the most obvious.
