Which is Nerdier? Doctor Who or Transformers? Equal?

I was hanging out at my friend's house on the weekend (something we've haven't done in a long time ) and another friend comes in, duel wielding Sonic Screwdrivers and the first friend immediately goes into his drawer and pulls out his Sonic Screwdrives. I'm looking at the two of them waving their Sonic Screwdrivers with all its lights and sounds and having some sort of energy projectile fight and I say "For a guy who collects TFs, this is the nerdiest thing I've seen in awhile." They both look at me and say "It's about the same."

Note: I know nothing about Doctor Who.

Perhaps I'm too deep into Transformers and my impression of things are coloured to know what is "normal" and what is "nerdy."

I didn't take a picture of them waving their Sonic Screwdrivers around because that's kind of a jerk move, but I did take a pic of the Sonic Screwdrivers themselves who those interested in what they look like:

I've always had a love for doctor who, it's so much fun and clever, like most shows to come out of the BBC and it's had some very strong talent aswell. It's really hard to compare the two kinda like comparing apples and mufflers if you ask me. Each has it's own strong following and if you can appreciate both like I do all the better.

Each one offers a person something different but if there was someway to combine the two that would be like the ultimate nerdgasm! haha

I digress from my ramblings though and finish with a quote from the 11th and most animated Doctor "Bow ties ARE cool!"

As someone who's been watching Dr Who since I was a kid, I think it's different flavors of the same thing. Tell me, if someone came into a room holding a Optimus Prime and said, "One shall stand, one shall fall," and you just happen to be holding a Megatron you wouldn't respond, "Why throw away your life so recklessly," and proceed to bash bots.

Yeah, they are about the same level of nerdiness. I love both pretty equally too

It's slowly getting there though. I know I have almost all of the Character Building sets on pre-order at BBTS (I need a better option than BBTS for these things....)

I have heard great things about Dr Who, but never really gotten into it.

I posed this question concerning Transformers and Power Rangers a while ago. Obviously I'm partial to Transformers, but I get why people like other stuff and try not to judge.

Same. It's tough getting into a show that has so much history and never ends. Though, I suppose every time they switch doctors the story somewhat starts from scratch again, from what I've gathered about the show.

Yeah, definitely. Normally I wouldn't of said anything, but they are good friends of mine and I felt comfortable enough to say it. I guess I just keep that level of geekdom internal, but if you want to talk about TFs, sure I'll jam with you, however not to point we're getting into character and doing quotes.

I'd say they're different sides of the same coin. They're no nerd-ier than Star Wars or any other kind of fantasy/sci-fi.
