Just a warning guys........ they are going to duty/customs you up the ass. I just read the fine print on their Canada shipping form, they are going to put the full value and clearly show it's a business buy.

No, I think you're wrong.
Read Grayfox post. Like he said "It's already been taken care of"
It's exactly the same way Amazon.com works: their partner(broker) clears your package at the border so you don't have to pay anything else. They even get you a refund if they overcharge you; if it's more they take the loss.

Honestly, I'd just prepare for both & run with it. However, if there's brokerage stuff like on Amazon, then I'd lean toward not getting surprise charges, at least if you're not shipping with Fed-Ex.

Re: Toysrus.com now ships internationally!

For these companies, what would be the point of working with a shipping carrier to figure out and charge you duty fees ahead of time if there would be fees to pay upon reception? That makes no sense.

From TRU.com's FAQ on international shipping

Quote:
How much will my Shipping Costs be?
Shipping costs vary depending on the destination, items you've selected and all applicable duties and taxes. You will be able to see your shipping costs once you move through the order checkout process, prior to submitting your order.
This FAQ can be found here

These days, more and more big name websites that offer international shipping work with this system. Places likes Amazon.com or Hasbrotoyshop.com. If I had to guess, I'd say they do it to make the shopping experience simpler with no bad suprises when you get your items. They let you know up front and have you pay it ahead of time as well.

Like I said in the original post, it makes the whole thing not exactly cheap, but it's another option for us

Edit: Come to think of it, I recall even getting a refund from Amazon.com because the duty fees they had estimated (and charged me) ended up being lower. At first I was like "Why the heck am I getting $3.00 [or something similar] back from amazon.com!?" Hah.

Re: Toysrus.com now ships internationally!

Yeah, technically a "brokerage" fee is a fee charged by whichever company to handle all that customs stuff FOR you. Though in cases like UPS, the brokerage fees are often wildly excessive, far beyond anything Canada Customs would charge you. However, if TRU.com is charging reasonable brokerage fees, that would be nice. I came across this in the past with another American company... forget who now. That's pretty much how it worked.

I say we jump on it now, before TRU.com realizes how badly they're getting burned on international shipments.
