Takara in Canada

I have this burning question, as we all know the only place to find Takara figures are on online toy stores, and Hasbro figures at retail stores. What are the chances of us having Takara figures here in Canada at retail stores like TRU etc..., will the Canadian market even allow imported Japanese figures at their stores? Does importation price has anything to with it?

Re: Takara in Canada

It would never happen, international licensing and agreements between Hasbro/Takara-Tomy being what they are.

Re: Takara in Canada

You'll never find Takara merchandise of any sort at any big box retail store here in Canada because of exactly what Metrotitan was referring to. However, that doesn't necessarily mean you won't see them being sold locally either. There are small businesses that import certain quantities themselves for re-sale, but of course you're going to pay some up-mark since they were the initial buyer so they're going to what reimbursement for their shipping fees, etc. Some of these will be comic shops, some of them will be toy shops that only specialize in model toys and import figures usually within your local Chinatown communities (assuming your city has a big enough of a Chinese community that warrants such a neighborhood to be developed). If you prefer supporting local businesses, seek them out. But if you would rather conserve your own out-of-pocket costs, you're generally better off buying online.
