Re: Street Fighter IV!

I have never been able to use the Japanese style sticks. I'm leaning towards getting a custom stick.

You could always buy a japanese stick and swap out the ball top for a bat top.

You can order parts from places like lizardlick.com and akihabarashop.jp .

Two weeks ago I got lucky and bought a Hori arcade pro EX at Gamebuzz Montreal for retail price. They only received one.

The stick is great! the buttons aren't too hot compared to arcade cabinets, but easy to replace.

Which arcades did you use to go to? I was an arcade junkie back in the day, mostly hanging around Daniel amusement/Pinocchio downtown and 222 Longueuil/Laval and Mira Amusement on Decarie.

I'm the other way around, American sticks have inconsistencies w/ feedback of the stick, while most Japanese sticks are standard and consistent for me.

I've lost count of how many times I couldn't dash or perform special moves or I could barely jump in a direction from bad sticks.

That's exactly what my friend did.

and for where I go..... oh ho ho, I have quite the history. One day I will cover that but for now I linger in 2000plus downtown.

Re: Street Fighter IV!

If you're gonna compete though. All competitions I have been too use the Japanese arcade consoles, so Japanese sticks only. So, practicing on a bat puts you at a disadvantage.

Re: Street Fighter IV!

Evolution and japanese arcade tournaments actually will go out of their way to get a BAT stick for traveling American guests. Alex V when he went to Japan to face their champion at the time Daigo, they made sure the BAT was there for him and the other guests.

Valle, at the level sure, at a tournament with resources. But I never saw that at any of the ones I have been to, in Canada, US or in Japan, normally arcade house Tournaments.

Re: Street Fighter IV!

I don't know, changing after 20 years and thousands of hours on a bat stick will be difficult. It would probably be just as difficult as the xbox d-pad.
