is this version part of the masterpiece series?

some sites says it is...some says it is "classic" series...

i am confused...

also, what would you say is the current market value for this misb?

Yes it is. It is the MP01 mold albeit with shorter smokestacks and lighter colours.

I think the confusion is that it comes in the the "classic" style packaging, but otherwise I too would consider it a MP.

It's both.
This was an MP figure that was repackaged for the classics line.
