Has Anyone Else Considered Toy Design As A Career?

I think it would be a brilliant career to have. You get to design things that bring joy to kids? Create modes of play? Muck about with other designers and engineers and illustrators all day? Who wouldn't love that?

Some quick googling reveals that Canada has not a single Toy Design school in the country. They are all in the states. But, and this is a big but, we have some awesome industrial design schools here. OCAD, Humber, Carleton, (there are more schools offering degrees in Industrial Design in Canada but the page that lists them isn't loading for me)

Most of the Transformer designers have degrees in industrial design. The other common degree is in Illustration. If you feel more inclined to draw toys then Illustration might be your path. Sheridan college offers a degree in illy which can be specialized into technical illustration which would be well suited for transformer or other mechanical work like vehicles.

Thoughts?
