Toys R Us San Diego Comic Con 2017 Masterpiece Optimus Prime Announced

As we near one of the biggest events of the year for Hasbro, and more specifically the Transformers brand, we have another exclusive announced! Toys R Us has announced their San Diego Comic Con 2017 exclusive Masterpiece Optimus Prime! For those who have yet to acquire the highly-praised MP-10 mold in any form or in red and blue, TRU presents another opportunity. They’ve also announced other exclusives for various other brands which can be found here.

Takara MP reissues are priced the same as the original releases.

Hasbro MP reissues are double the price of the original releases.

9 will get you 10 the TRU SDCC version has a TRU logo on the trailer.

Not sure if it's been every year since then, but they've been doing it at least as far back as 2011. They had a couple of Star Wars multipacks that year, among other things. And a couple years ago I remember there was a Nightmare Moon, and I think MP Acid Storm and MP Soundwave? A few other things. I believe pretty much everything was available at their Con booth as well as online through their website. And many were released in their stores afterwards.

As for MP-10, apparently he is a colour variant...

This TRANSFORMERS Masterpiece Optimus Prime collectible figure will definitely be a favorite among TRANSFORMERS enthusiasts at this year’s show. The figure is an MP10 variant and the perfect Masterpiece figure for any fan to start their collection! The figure features a unique color variant inspired by the original TRANSFORMERS: GENERATION 1 animated series. Featuring a high level of detail and intricate articulation with poseable fingers, the figure stands at 9.5 inches when in robot mode and converts between robot and truck modes in 24 steps. The Masterpiece Optimus Prime comes with numerous classic Optimus Prime accessories including the Spike Witwicky figure, Orange Energy Axe, Matrix of Leadership, Ion Blaster Rifle and Roller Unit. The Matrix of Leadership accessory is comprised of mostly die cast metal and a blue, gem-like center which can be carried in the figure’s chest. Fans can fold the Ion blaster Rifle in half and store it in the figure’s back. The Masterpiece Optimus Prime figure also comes with a trailer that converts into a battle station and a repair bay. Rubber tires are also included.
