Perhaps I should not have read all the reviews saying this is the worst Bond film in a long while. It's really not that bad. SPECTRE could never have lived up to the hype of SKYFALL. The story tried to loosely tie up everything that happened in the Craig movies and that is its largest failure.
One of my favorite scenes from the end of SKYFALL is Bond post-triumphantly scanning the London skyline, renewed and repurposed. SPECTRE diminishes that promise by making him go lifelessly rogue. Craig has said in numerous interviews that he's "done with Bond", and the way they wrapped things up I really cannot see him coming back anyways!
Oh well...at least there were no invisible cars, alligator submarines or diamond-studded henchmen.

Well I did not read any review. The movie industry leaves very twist to the audiences.
But hey most movies these days are just 2 hours long advert to sell toys.

Too true.
An $8K toy, joyously identical to what is worn onscreen.
Disappointly, the real version doesn't have the "loud" alarm that Q warned about.

Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Saw Spectre in IMAX today.
Overall I enjoyed it. But again as JJ said the writers tried too hard to make this a sort-of sequel to Skyfall and tried to tie up loose ends since Casino Royale that it really limited their creative freedom. It's not as bad as Quantum of Solace - which is completely ignored for good reason - but Sam Mendes and Co should have known better. From the title sequence when I saw images of Javier Bardem and Eva Green again I knew it's not a good sign. I am OK if Mr White and Quantum were related to Spectre but I'd much rather prefer Silva acted alone against Mommy. That it was personal. And Skyfall was a stand alone story - Just like GOLDFINGER. But Spectre in many ways ruined that.
What I like most:
John Harrison. I mean The Writing's On The Wall!!!!
Less obvious product placement and less brand naming. (In Casino Royale Bond called out Omega and Bollinger, in Skyfall Moneypenny called out Audi and VW Beetles, Silva called out 50 year old Macallan.)
What I dislike most:
Madeleine Swann, a character who was made more or less to feel like an alternate timeline Eva Green (The train scene, and asking Bond the same question....
Vesper Lynd: It doesn't bother you? Killing all those people?
James Bond: Well I wouldn't be very good at my job if it did.
Madeleine Swann: Is this really what you want? Living in the shadows? Hunting, being hunted? Always alone?
James Bond: I don't stop to think about it.
Hopefully the next movie - should it be a sequel since a certain someone is only introduced and "alive", she will be killed off rather like Franka Potente's Marie Kreutz in the beginning of The Bourne Supremacy. And set up what could be Craig's last Bond movie. I don't believe Spectre is his last. He is officially credited as Producer and NO ONE in their right mind would spend all the money to buy back the copy right and made a whole movie to establish the bad guy's back story only to leave it up in the air.

Depends on what you want out of your Bond:
- Sean Connery = Classic, early '60s, womanizing Bond
- George Lazenby = underrated, late '60s, Austin Powers-inspiring Bond
- Roger Moore = ham-fisted, campy, unbelievable Bond
- Timothy Dalton = rough around the edges, drug dealer-hunting, vendetta-driven '80s Bond
- Pierce Brosnan = smirky, Euro-centric, zinger spouting '90s Bond
- Daniel Craig = inner-turmoiled, reluctantly suave, Bourne Bond
I'm partial to Connery's Bond the first 4 movies, Lazenby's singular outing, Moore's Bond only in The Man With The Golden Gun, Brosnan's Bond in GoldenEye and Craig's nuBond in the most recent films.
In the end James Bond is pretty much an outdated concept so I would agree with many who say Connery's Bond was the best since the "gentleman spy" is more of a '60s trope than anything.
