I don't know. I don't have a problem with it. Put yourself in their shoes. In essence they're babysitting your stuff while you take your time to pick it up.
During that time if anything happens to it, like say they box gets damaged, they have to take responsibility for it. Compare that to someone walking in, picking the product off the shelf, paying for it and walking out.
There's a lot less hassle and zero babysitting with the latter.
