Looking for beast wars fans

I'm looking at getting an Optimus Primal figure in his original body... But since I haven't been able to see any figures in person I thought I would ask your opinion as to which are good ones to look at.

Like his original bat body, or his original gorilla body?

Re: Looking for beast wars fans

The Beast Wars 10th anniversary DX version by Takara is the way to go. Improved headsculpt (no battle mask though, as the idea got scrapped for the show), best paint apps, best QC. If you want the battle mask and the original headsculpt (with mouthplate), the TM-SP DX Beast Convoy I got today is what you want. Same mold as the original, with a premium-like finish.

If money is an issue, you can always get the cheaper Robotmasters (or Telemocha - this one is a premium-like version of the first one) version of Beast Convoy.

While the Robot Master's body has a lot of drawbacks, I like it because it's closer to being in scale with the rest of the Beast Wars figures.

Re: Looking for beast wars fans

Of the ones I have, I think the original ultra class one is the best along with Optimal Optimus. The robot masters one is good too, but it's small. The transmetal one is pretty good too, very show accurate. Avoid the Beastmachines versions, although, I've heard reviews that rave about the air attack primal. But like I said original or optimal. IMHO, they're big and have good gimmicks, ones you can ignore and don't have to work around when you pose. Suggest you check out youtube for reviews if you haven't already.

The North American (well USA) 10th anniversary reissue TRU exclusive box set of Optimus Primal and Megatron is also pretty sweet. I got mine for $50 shipped about a year ago from TFW. They also have the show accurate heads with battle masks removed. Like Pascal said though, the paint jobs on the Takara DX versions are pretty damn sweet and are worth the extra cash.

Re: Looking for beast wars fans

I think this is the one Pascal is talking about

BEAST WARS TM-01 OPTIMUS PRIME

If not, either way this is the one id suggest to get. He's a deluxe scale which goes perfect with the rest of the BW gang.
However if ur looking for true original scale (Ultra class) then id suggest the Sales thread or ebay. I used to own him and he was just too big for me. But then again i try to keep my collection screen scale accurate. lolzzz!!!
I personally prefer the one in the pics. I found one on ebay a few months ago for about $35CDN. got lucky tho, he was hard to find.

Re: Looking for beast wars fans

The original Optimus (and subsequant re-tools) is the best of the Beast wars bunch IMO. Air Attack Optimus is great, as is the Cybertron Version, but not as good as the original.

Re: Looking for beast wars fans

Thanks for the advice everyone - Scale isn't too important as I don't have any of the rest of the BW gang except Universe 2 Dinobot... I have Optimal Optimus (except I need to find his missles) and TM Optimus (which is a really awesome figure) and figure I should get his first mode to go with them...

With a name like Cybermnky its kinda surprising it took me this long to get around to it.

I'm leaning towards either the Telemocha (TM-01) or the Beast Wars Reborn OP and Megs 2 pack (BWR-01)...
