I have problems with the shoudler too. When I fold up the arm to turn him into tank mode, it is FOREVER falling off. No problems with the shin joint unless I pull too hard.

I don't even bother. I go against the directions and leave them upside down with the little protrusions tucked in. That way, Galvatron can actually move his big right arm AND the those parts don't pop off. Although they don't peg in upside down, they don't seem to get in the way.
